Contemplation

Whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock.”

Matthew 7:24 NKJV

Finding our own personal way to clear the noise and clutter of the everyday is essential to our wellbeing and our connection to that certain something deep within us and beyond us – that which is our own sense of something more. It’s an exploration which can find us peeling back veils in a myriad of spaces – kneeling with head bowed low in a well worn generational pew, leaning against an old oak tree and looking Heavenward with tears running down our cheeks, lying in the cool spring grass on a hill from our childhood in some long forgotten dream. We get caught off guard when we find ourselves transfixed in the eyes of a child, or running our fingertips over the words of a well worn bible – spellbound in a long memory. Moments in time when we are lost to our humanness and slide into that which we have always been yet seemed elusive. We are home. Finally and fully. Home.

What subtleties whisper your name? What calls you home? As you go through your day stay watchful for those moments that reaches to embrace something you have yet to name. What sustains you? Lifts your heart? Linger there. Cultivate that which embraces. In the liminal space that opens up into the vastness. The space for finding more of that which you seek in your business. There. There in the branches of the everyday. In the subtle moments spent stirring the chili. There He will be. Patiently waiting. In the moments between the ticking of the clock and of time itself. Make room in your heart and He will enter in ways that will set your heart and the world on fire. Believe in the magic of all that waits just beyond this moment.

Gratitude and thanks for the myriad of blessings already on their way to you.

As I bring this blog post to a close it strikes me as beautifully apropos that the song the song playing in the room is Casting Crown’s ‘Jesus at a Distance’ I once lived in a place where people I walked by would have known the words to this song. I long to live in this space again. A space where lifting arms at sunrise in humble awe and gratitude is a way of life. Where scripture falls off lips as easily as greetings of generosity. Always gravitate toward that which sustains whenever possible. Reach for it and you will be reaching for yourself and that which will sustain you in the storms and blessed moments of salvation in your life. Blessings for His Grace upon you and your journey.
